Press Release
Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 and the VFW Post 497 hosted the inaugural Hi-Line Veterans/First Responders Family Barbecue Saturday at the Bear Paw Lake pavilion in Beaver Creek Park.
"Despite the extremely hot temperatures, we had many veterans and first responder come out and enjoy a great day of food, fun and storytelling," Elks Lodge Secretary and event co-chairwoman Brandy Kurtz said. "We appreciate the Elks National Foundation for helping to fund this event through a Freedom Grant, Pepsi for the posters and beverages and all the great volunteers from the Havre Elks Lodge and VFW Post."
Planning started immediately after this inaugural event for the second annual Hi-Line Veterans/First Responders Family Barbeque in 2019. Kurtz says "We already have some great ideas on how to make this wonderful new community event bigger and better in 2019."
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has been supporting veterans since the founding of the order in 1868. The Elks have pledged to end Veteran's Homelessness in America.
