Grief Poem - Pace Yourself

Remembering back, we don’t forget, we know God heals our pain.

Both faith and prayers, that’s where we turn — with both we’ve much to gain.

Journey through grief with our Lord’s aid, helps us when days are dark,

We must reach out — help other folks; we’ll then reach “watermark”.

We cry and pray and that’s OK, for that brings peace to us.

We laugh and joke with other folks and that, too, is a plus

Seasons do change, outside and in; grief’s different for each one.

Our life has changed, we’ve set new goals; to heal we need the SUN.

We’ve anxious (1) days but still we search for joy and happiness.

We find it hard to live each day and wait for God to bless.

We pace ourselves, so we believe; we work for food and drink.

But happiness, that’s what we want, could be that’s what we think.

Death or divorce — the loss is felt; the darkness hides God’s face.

As time goes by we realize we’re sheltered by God’s grace.

Grief does cause storms, some days, a gale; help us with You to stand!

Some day You’ll come with trumpet sound, ‘tomorrow’s’ in Your hand!

We pace or walk, heel, toe, a step; we walk a measured stride.

Oh Lord, we know You care for us — that you’re right by our side.

Oh, Lord, we know You are our “rock” — help us to hold on tight.

When we feel weak, Lord, make us strong, Your love for us is “tight!”
