Law enforcement responds to robbery attempt

Police seeking suspect

Havre Police responded this morning to a 3:34 a.m. report of an attempted robbery at a First Street West business and are still looking for the suspect.

A thin, 5-foot-5-inch to 5-foot-8-inch man walked into the business dressed in all-black clothing with a hood and duct tape covering his hands, holding a hatchet, Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said.

The man attempted to rob the business by passing a note with a message telling the business’ employee to pass over his wallet.

The robbery was unsuccessful but the suspect is still at large and the investigation is ongoing, Matosich said.

He added that this was an isolated incident.

Poeple who have more information can call the Havre Police Department at 265-4361, the Hill County Sheriff’s Department at 265-2512 or Crimestoppers at 265-4444. The caller may remain anonymous.

Matosich said people making reports to Crimestoppers that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
