Editor,
This is an open thank-you letter to President Donald J. Trump for being instrumental in bringing home the first 55 U.S. veterans’ remains from the Korean War. I pray that all others in North Korea will be ultimately returned.
As a retired United States Army veteran, I salute you, sir, for accomplishing this feat and to do so within 18 short months, remarkable. I want the American public to know that closure for these families cannot be measured. You, as president, have given them a gift that surpasses anything one can imagine.
I also want the American public to know the following presidents who failed to do what you accomplished:
1. Barack Obama, Democrat; 2. George W. Bush, Republican; 3. Bill Clinton, Democrat; 4. George H.W. Bush, Republican; 5. Ronald Reagan, Republican; 6. Jimmy Carter, Democrat; 7. Gerald Ford, Republican; 8. Richard M. Nixon, Republican; 9. Lyndon B. Johnson, Democrat; 10, John F. Kennedy, Democrat.
That’s 10 presidents, spanning 60-plus years, and no results. One can ask, why?
Again, Mr. President, I salute you. I remain a proud veteran.
