A fundraiser has been set Thursday to help a man who had successfully battled a rare form of lymphoma now pay for treatment of another cancer that has been diagnosed incurable.
Waylon Day Child had spent long months in Seattle getting treatment for the lymphoma, and now it has come back, this time in his lungs. His wife, Terissa, said it is an aggressive cancers and doctors expect that even with treatment it will be back every six months.
She said doctors in Great Falls found tumors in Waylon Day Child’s lungs. They had been going from Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation once or twice every week, and after a second blood test came back positive a doctor told him the cancer was in his lungs.
“It was devastating news for the both of us when he told us the cancer was back,” she said “It was hard to keep the tears back.”
His mother, Noreen Day Child, said earlier this month he is taking treatment to try to extend the time he can spend with his family including his four children, Tyra, 13, Jalissa, 12, Kalissa, 4, and Waylon Jr., 2.
The fundraiser is set Thursday at Pizza Hut. Anyone making a purchase can say they are donating to Day Child, and 20 percent of the purchase price will be given to his account.
