Great Northern Fair gets underway

The 2018 Great Northern Fair gets fully underway Wednesday with the midway opening and arena entertainment starting then, but work at the fairgrounds began much earlier and some activities are starting today.

Open class entries will be accepted at the fairgrounds from 5 to 8 tonight, as well as from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

4-H started with work on preparing facilities over the weekend, and activities continue Tuesday with 4-H Interview Day starting at 8:45 a.m. at Havre Middle School.

Wednesday will see the carnival, food booths, commercial building and open class exhibit displays opening and arena entertainment starting with the Junior Rodeo, as well as the opening of the new 4-H Chuckwagon with concessions and exhibit viewing.

Following is the full schedule for Wednesday through Sunday:

Wednesday

Carnival opens today

10 a.m. — 4-H Horse Show

11 a.m. — Bigger Better Barn concessions open to public

Noon — Food booths open; Commercial building open; Open class exhibits open

4 p.m. — 4-H Chuckwagon opens to public

5 p.m. — Junior Rodeo, arena entertainment

5:30 p.m. — Bigger Better Barn concessions close

9 p.m. — Commercial building, barns and exhibit buildings close

11 p.m. — 4-H Chuckwagon Closes

Thursday

7 a.m. — 4-H Market Animal weigh scale open, closes at 9:30 a.m.

8 a.m. — Bigger Better Barn concessions open to public

10 a.m. — Great Northern Ram Open Rodeo slack, arena entertainment

11 a.m. — 4-H Chuckwagon opens

Noon — Ladies Breakaway Roping, arena entertainment; Food booths open; Commercial building open; Open class exhibits open

2 p.m. — 4-H Small Animal Show: Cat Showmanship and Judging; Rabbit Showmanship and Judging; Poultry Showmanship and Judging; Rabbit Agility Event
