This Friday and Saturday the North Central Senior Center will be holding their Annual Fundraising Rummage and Food Sale featuring cinnamon rolls and Indian tacos, which are all cooked at the center.
"We try to do it twice a year," transportation and volunteer worker Gwen Goar said, adding that it has been going on for as many years as she can remember.
Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be the rummage sale, Goar said.
Saturday will also be the food sale, she added.
Cinnamon rolls, some with nuts and some without, will be sold from 8 to 11 a.m. and Indian tacos will be sold from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Goar said.
The dough is bought from Gary & Leo's Fresh Foods but the food is all made in-house, she added.
"If there are any leftover cinnamon rolls (after 11 a.m.) we keep selling them," Goar said, adding that people should just ask.
The money raised from both the rummage and food sales stay at the center, Goar said.
It could be used for anything, unexpected work on a vehicle or a power bill or toward a specific project, she added.
"(The center) uses it for whatever may need to be done," she said.
The last few months the center focused on fundraising to purchase a new steam table for its kitchen and the next project they would like to save for is a storage shed, Goar added.
For these sales, and for the rest of the year, the Center relies a lot on volunteers, Goar said.
"The volunteers are wonderful; they are great," she said, adding that they couldn't do the rummage and food sales without their support.
The senior citizens center used to have a booth at the fair, Goar said, but they had to give the booth up so they decided to have the sale at their center.
"We encourage people to stop by on Saturday," she added.
