Apparent murder at Rocky Boy under investigation

The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed this morning that it and the Chippewa Cree Tribal Police are investigating what appears to be the murder of a woman on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

FBI Public Affairs Specialist Sandra Barker said the body of an adult woman was found Saturday on the reservation, adding that no threat to public safety is present at this time.

Barker responded to an email requesting information sent this morning.

An email address listed on a message in the FBI Salt Lake City media relations office returned emails to sender Monday and this morning.

Representatives of Chippewa Cree police did not return a call from the Havre Daily News Monday morning requesting comment.

A Great Falls representative of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Great Falls did not return Monday morning queries requesting comment by printing deadline today.

Hill County Sheriff and Coroner Jamie Ross said this morning his office responded as coroner to a report of a sudden death on the reservation, but he could not provide more information.

Barker said that because of the ongoing nature of the investigation, the FBI would not provide additional information at this time.
