The driver of a vehicle involved in a rollover crash in Phillips County Thursday died on the scene and two children who were passengers in the vehicle were transported to a hospital, the Montana Highway Patrol reports.

The name of the fatality has not been released pending notification of relatives.

The Highway Patrol reports the call about the crash came in at 1:48 p.m. Thursday.

The investigating trooper found that the vehicle was westbound on U.S. Highway 2 when at Mile Marker 500 it drifted off the north side of the road. The driver overcorrected, re-entering the road, and then overcorrected again.

The vehicle began rotating clockwise as it entered the ditch on the north side of the road, rotating 3.5 times before coming to rest upside down.
