Box Elder star basketball player Joelnell Momberg hasn't even begun her junior year of high school yet. But, she already knows where she's going to college.
On Friday, Momberg announced via Facebook that she is verbally committing to the University of Montana Lady Griz basketball program. Momberg will be a junior at Box Elder this fall, thus, she isn't able to sign an NCAA letter of intent yet, and coaches college coaches are prohibited from speaking to the media about high school players until they sign the letter.
"Very excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to be a Lady Griz!" Momberg wrote on her Facebook page. "None of this would have been possible without my parents and the rest of my support system. I owe thanks to many people, but the greatest thanks is to the Creator for the moments I'm able to play basketball. Excited and can't wait to see what the future holds....."
In her first two years at Box Elder, Momberg has averaged more than 10 points per game, and is already a two-time Class C All-State and All-Northern C selection. Back in March, she also helped the Lady Bears to their first state basketball championship in 20 years.
