Kinsella awarded Dr. David and Mrs. Gloria Almas Scholarship

Continuing and honoring the memory of Dr. David and Mrs. Gloria Almas of Havre, Addison Kinsella, daughter of Kirk and Kathleen Kinsella, has been awarded the 2017 Almas scholarship and computer is.

Addison will be attending Northern majoring in education. Addison has been actively involved in volunteer activities such as the soup kitchen, art and library work, bible camp, American Legion Auxiliary and church groups, participation in Havre High School Key Club activities, math, basketball groups and stage play work as well as having a 3.9 scholastic grade average.

She credits her passion for education to the excellent teachers she has experienced in the Havre school system

The scholarship is an annual endowed monetary scholarship and laptop computer given in memory of Dr. David and Mrs. Gloria Almas, who were lifelong Havre residents. His father, Dr. Joseph S. Almas, started his medical practice in the 1890s in Havre and Dr. David Almas, a second-generation Havreite, continued the medical practice and was one of the original founders of the Havre Medical Clinic. Both Dr. David Almas and Gloria were very actively involved in Havre community activities.

Their son, Dr. James P. Almas, who resides in Jackson, Mississippi and daughter, Emily both participated in the selection of the candidate.

MSU-Northern Alumni Foundation Scholarship Ex Officio members are Gail Rader and Renelle Braaten.
