The Havre Girls Fastpitch Association continued its city tournaments Thursday night with the B League championship game at Sixth Avenue Memorial Field.
Montana Country Boutique lost to Independence Bank Wednesday but rallied to get back into the championship game and then thanks to a stellar performance on the mound by Avery Carlson, the tournament MVP, it took the title game 6-1. Carlson earned a complete-game victory, limiting Independence Bank to just one run, which came in the top of the third inning.
MCB, on the other hand, scored in the bottom of the first, and third innings, getting one run in each. Then, MCB added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to help notch a five-run win.
MCB was coached by Tera Verploegen and Erin Olson. The Roster included Carlson, Mallory Murray, Danni Wirtzberger, Savannah The Boy, Morgan Simpson, Natalia Valdez, Elyssa Verploegen, Lariah Windyboy, Presley Forst, Emily Marsh, Adi Olson and Heydon Olson.
Independence Bank, the runner-up, was coached by John Shennum. The players were Molly Huse, Grayce Harada, Chloe Shenum, Hannah Kinsella, Shea Reber, Kyanna Jarvis, Alyiah Stiffarm, Carolyn Thomas, Claire Harada, Taylor Leeds, Liddie Morese, Jaicee The Boy and Lila Molyneaux.
Lions also finished third in the six-team tournament. Mickey Haney was the coach, while the roster featured Lizzi Haney, Kately LaMere, Sylvie McKeon-Hanson, Willow Riggin, Lenni Cunningham, Shelby Huston, Jersi Morse, London Toldness, McKina Olson, Paisley Brandon, Makaylen TopSky, Gabby Walker and Amaya Jarvis.
