Benefit set for Eagles Club manager

A benefit and auction will be held Saturday evening for long-time Havre Eagles Club Manager Tom Farnham, who had been at a rehabilitation center in Great Falls.

Farnham who is known for having organized many fundraising events for other Havre residents and organizations at the Eagles club, fell while on his way to work and hit his head on the pavement.

A brain hemorrhage was detected by a CT scan at Northern Montana Hospital and Farnham was airlifted to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls. He then was treated at a rehabilitation center where he worked on his motor skills and walking again; he is now back at home in Havre.

"He has been back home just about two weeks," Farnham's wife, Val Farnham said, adding that he seems to be coming along really well.

"He is now able to take short walks without his walker ... and he is going back to work part-time, doing some office work," she said.

"He does a lot for everyone else," community member Roxana Mangold said. "We want to help him with his medical bills."

The benefit has been planned to help offset the cost of medical bills and will be held at Havre Eagles Club. Doors will open at 4 p.m. with dinner starting at 5 p.m.

The dinner will feature a choice of barbecue pork or shredded chicken with baked beans and potato salad. T4he price will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger.

The event also has both silent and live auctions with treats made by local bakers.

"We are looking for crafts, homemade items," Mangold said. "We are trying to get homemade pies for the pie auction ... a few people are making cinnamon rolls."

A few restaurants including Murphy's Irish Pub, Andy's Supper Club and Char's Family Dining are donating, she added. The organizers are also trying to work with some local businesses and crafters to get some additional donations.

To donate, people can call Roxana at 390-4640 or Teresa at 945-1445. Donations can also be dropped off at the Havre Eagles Club.
