Obituary - Rosemary Newton

Rosemary Newton, 81, passed away due to natural causes at Benefis Medical Center Friday, June 15, 2018.

Wake services began Saturday, June 16, 2018, at her residence in Box Elder. Rosemary was moved to the New Senior Center at 8 a.m. Sunday, and remained there until her funeral, which was 10 a.m. today, June 18, 2018. Cremation followed.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Rosemary was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Great Falls to William J. and Josephine (Smith) LaMere. She was raised in Great Falls, attending school there. While in high school, she met William B. F. Newton, and the couple married in 1954 in Great Falls. They had five children. William was in the U.S. Air Force, so over the next 15-plus years, the family moved wherever he was stationed, including Puerto Rico, Spokane and Glasgow. William retired in 1971, and he passed away in 1973.

Rosemary met Wallace "Pops" Mitchell with whom she had two children, and the couple remained together until he passed away in 2006.

Rosemary enjoyed rummage sales and thrift stores, and she had many visitors with much conversation and laughter. She was an avid bingo player who absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Newton Sr .; her significant other, Wallace "Pops" Mitchell; her parents, William and Josephine LaMere; and all of her siblings except for a sister.

Rose is survived by her children, William "Willie" Newton, Jr. of Rocky Boy, Gloria Little of Rocky Boy, Lucinda (Ed) Romero of Colorado Springs, CO, Donna (Alfred Chandler) Newton of Havre, Pam "P.K." (Freddy Salgado Jr.) Newton of Colorado Springs, CO, Thomas "Charlie" (Lori Rankin) Mitchell of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert "Porky" Mitchell of Rocky Boy and Isabelle Dotts of Box Elder; her 26 grandchildren; her numerous great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; her sister Patricia "Patsy" Fookes of Choteau; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
