The first of two postseason tournaments held by the Havre Girls Fastpitch Softball Association concluded Thursday night at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field, with Brandon's Drapery and Floor Covering winning the A League championship 20-7 over Master Sports.
Lauren Kato was named the MVP for the tournament, as Brandon's bounced back from an earlier loss to Master Sports to win the championship. Brandon's opened the tournament with a win over Chinook, before losing to Master Sports in the semifinals of the championship bracket. Kato took the hill and earned the win, while also helping herself at the plate with a couple of hits and RBIs.
In addition to Kato, Brandon's roster also featured TyMarie Hewitt, Mia Olson, Jera Verploegen, Alyssa Oliver, Katherine Greenwood, Carly Kato, Keylee Kline, P.J. Morsette, Mia Valdez, Lennon Herdina and Raelee Meyers. Brandon's was coached by Tera Verploegen and Michelle Oliver.
The team sponsored by Master Sports took second with a roster that included Danielle George, Lexi Haney, Quinn McDonald, Jocelyn Staples, Holly Strobel, Kaitlin Anderson, Baylee Miller, Carley Strobel, Genna Sloan, Kylie Walker and Tristan Molyneaux. The team was managed by Jason McDonald and Wes Anderson.
