Jerry L. Ward, born in Portland, Oregon, Dec. 4, 1948, to Gerald C. and Margelaine (Olson) Higley, adopted by his stepfather, Burnell Ward, passed away June 9, 2018, in his home in Winthrop, Washington.
Jerry graduated from Havre High School in Havre, Montana, in 1967. After high school he served in Vietnam. Upon his return, he married Carolyn McMeans. He attended college in Wenatchee, Washington, graduating with honors and earning a degree in respiratory therapy. He used his degree to work at Lincare and then the hospital in Brewster, Washington, until his retirement.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn. Together they had three children, Tina (Clint) Johnson of Idaho, Tara (Bart) Matteson of Winthrop, Washington, and Todd (Liang) Ward of Texas. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Taylor (Sam) Lorts and Bart Jr. and Ruthann Matteson; mother, Margelaine "Marge" Matzke of Havre; two brothers, Terry and Kerry (Dawn) Ward of Havre; and sister, Merry (Brad) Jones of Bozeman.
And guys, he really enjoyed his Friday night card games in Wenatchee.
