Press release
More than 400 youth from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Falls and surrounding areas, Fort Benton, Havre, Chinook, Lewistown, Malta, Belt, Fairfield, Cascade, Choteau, Sun River, Conrad, Cutbank, Shelby, Chester and Browning, as well as Helena and Bozeman will gather together for a regional conference June 14-16 in the Electric City.
Young men and women ages 12-18 have the opportunity to serve our community as they team up and go forth to the MSDB, Mercy Home, and Rescue Mission/Cameron Center for various pre-arranged projects.
Church leaders have been collaborating for six months planning this once-a-year youth conference. Eight groups of approximately 50 young men and women will rotate between service projects, classes, and activities all day Friday, June 15. Some of the service projects entail prep work for the repaving of the parking lot at the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind, yard work and removal of storage items in the basement rooms at the YWCA to make way for new flooring, and cleaning and miscellaneous jobs at the Cameron Center. Other venues include service at an elementary school and preschool.
A dance will conclude the day’s events. Out-of-town youth and leaders are housed by families in Great Falls and meals are provided by the church.
