This weekend will mark the beginning of the Great Northern Foundation’s swap meets, which will be held three Saturdays this month.
The rummage sales will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 9, 16 and 23, in the north end of the commercial building. Anyone is welcome to set up a table and sell their items; it is $25 for the first day and $10 for each additional day.
This is the first year the foundation has hosted an event like this.
“The foundation decided to try to help the fairgrounds,” Great Northern Foundation board member Ursula Brese said. “We are going to try to keep it going annually.”
If people would like to set up a table and sell their items all three days, they can pay the $25 for the first day and the extra $20 for the next two Saturdays up front and they can leave all their items at the fairgrounds, Brese said.
“And if they don’t want to sell it themselves,” she added, “they can donate it to us, and we will sell it.”
All the money from the donated items will go to the fairgrounds and the unsold items will be donated to Havre’s Helping Haven, Brese said.
The foundation is also looking for volunteers to come Saturday, June 30, she said, starting at 9 a.m. to help clean up the grounds.
“People can bring rakes, hoes. … They can help with painting, getting the grounds ready for the fair,” Brese added.
If people have any questions about the swap meet, they can contact Brese at 262-7767.
