Local Golf Report: Fun had at Prairie Farms and BCGC

From Tee to Green

Golf season is really in full swing now, with school about to end and the tournament schedule getting going last weekend.

Last Saturday, the tournament season started at Prairie Farms Golf Course with the annual Golfing for a Cure tourney. The event, which, in my opinion, is one of the best causes anywhere on the Hi-Line each year, was won by Baker Amusements. The team was made up of Shari and Greg Baltrusch, Paula Sheppard and Karla Bolken. Second place went to Prairie Farms, which was made up of Chandra Moomey, Courtney Wendland, Stacey McKeon and Tyler Gibson. Third place was Northern Montana Hospital. Patti Nault, Carol Culp, Julie Mariani and Darrold Debolt composed the team. Floren’s Hill Country Printing, made up of Connie Peterson, Ginger Zanto, Justin French and Denise Floren finished fourth.

A special thank you goes out to Kari Riley, Bonnie Fladager and Alyssa Kato for all their help for this year’s tournament.

Beaver Creek Golf Course was also busy Saturday with the annual Havre Wrestling Club Scramble. The tournament was well-attended and, as always, a good time was had by all. The team of Phil and Al Stokes and Cody and Dillon Seeley took first place, while Stacy and Bob Mantle, and Sarah and Pete Christenson finished second. The squad of Ryan Shelstad, Chade Ranes, Nick Nault and Spencer Fisher was third.

Tournament action continues this weekend with the annual NALSF Tournament at Prairie Farms.

Back on the league circuit, last Tuesday night in men’s league at Prairie Farms, Jeremy Jensen shot a 1-under 35 to earn low gross honors, while Craig Tilleman was low net with a 29.5. High team went to Patrick Construction with 21 points. The team was made up of Ken Wagner, Tim Callahan, Tom Patrick and Dave Clausen.

Wednesday night, Master Sports was high team with 22 points. Dave Sheppard, Jim Kirkpatrick, Barry Kato and Wayne Bolken composed the squad. Dr. Kevin Harada was low gross with a 2-under 34, while Dennis Murphy was low net with a 31.

Last Thursday night in ladies league, Patrick Construction was high team with 23 points. Stacy Mantle, Melissa Oberquell, Katie Heath and Kathy Peterson composed the winning team. Ali Ward, Carrie Kato and Sarah Spangler shared low gross, each shooting 41, while Karla Bolken was low net.

Last Thursday night’s round of men’s league at BCGC was rained out.
