It was a big season for a host of area Six-Man football players and teams last fall. Now, five Hi-Line preps get to suit up and put their school's helmets on for one more game in what is the most unique form of football in the country.
Saturday night in Highwood, three stars from Big Sandy, and a pair of brothers from North Star will be a part of the annual Montana Six-Man All-Star game.
Big Sandy standouts Weston Allderdice, Duke Darlington and Tanner Allderdice will play in the annual showdown for the Blue Team, which represents eastern and central Montana. The three Pioneers were part of a magical fall in Big Sandy, which saw the Pioneers finish second in the Northern Division, and win a home playoff game, while advancing to the Six-Man quarterfinals. It was Big Sandy's first playoff appearance in five years, and the Pioneers trio will be joined on the sidelines Saturday night by head coach Ronnie Simpson, who will serve as an assistant coach for the Blue squad, headed by MonDak's Troy Walters.
But the Big Sandy trio won't be alone Saturday night when it comes to the Hi-Line. That's because North Star standouts Dylan and Devon Miller are also on the Blue roster. The brothers helped the Knights to a strong season and have been four-year, two-way players since their freshman season. This past year, they both earned Six-Man All-State honors.
Saturday night will also feature the annual Bob Cleverly 8-Man All-Star game, which will take place down the road in Butte. The Red team will feature a host of Northern C standouts, including Landon Taylor from Fort Benton, who is headed to play for the MSU-Northern Lights. Northern wrestling commit Nathan Weber is also on the Blue roster, which will be led by his head coach, Forsyth's Shawn Hollowell.
The Bob Cleverly game will kick off at 7 p.m. at Alumni Coliseum in Butte, while the Six-Man All-Star game also kicks off at 7 p.m. in Highwood. The summer will also feature the Class B All-Star Game, which will also take place in Butte, as well as the Badlands Bowl between Montana and North Dakota June 16 in Dickinson, North Daklota, and the Montana East-West Shrine Game July 21 at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls.
