Grief Poem - That Five-Letter Word

We feel the change that GRIEF does bring when death stole our loved one.

A friendship’s lost and yes, we grieve, a loss, a change, it’s done!

Though most often Grief’s not discussed, somehow, we power through.

We move along — we look ahead — just something that we do.

Vulnerable and insecure, Dear Lord, I’m out of pep!

Remind me, Lord, that You have plans, You’re with me step-by-step.

We’ve lost ‘normal.’ We need new hope to keep memories alive.

We need to find a new pattern, somehow, we will survive.

New normal keeps sweet memories, a comfort when we share.

We’ll share insight and pass it on to friends who grieve and care.

We’re meant to live and move through grief and that somehow works best.

Pain will be there but different now, with God’s help, we’ll be blessed.

We know God cares for each of us; life’s journey though is rough.

He’ll guide us through those rough places, with God we have enough.

Live till we’ve filled every moment: Grief — a five-letter word.

God’s steadfast love never ceases, fresh each morn, never blurred[1].

We ask You, Lord, guide us each day, Grief’s not an easy walk.

Sunrise, sunset, ‘time’ to reflect, with You we’re free to talk.
