Behind the strong play of doubles tandem Sierra Swank and Megan Pruttis, the Chinook girls tennis team placed fifth at last weekend's Class B-C state tournament in Great Falls.
Swank and Pruttis reached the doubles final before falling to the top team from Fort Benton, by the scores of 7-5, 6-1.
Chester-Joplin-Inverness' Kendahl Knapton reached the singles quarterfinals, while the Harlem doubles team of Aria Owens and Taeshon Schaeffer reached the consolation quarterfinals.
CJI and Harlem finished in a tie for ninth place. Great Falls Central captured the B-C boys state championship, while Choteau won the girls team title.
