Grief Poem - Spring-time Thoughts

What once to us was radiance, which once was oh, so bright,

That precious time with you, my dear, was taken from our sight.

Nothing at all can bring you back; you’re missed so much each day.

Seasons do pass, and now it’s Spring, actually, the first of May!

Death leaves heart ache for every one, it’s difficult to heal;

Your love has left sweet memories, memories which none can steal.

Oh, soothing thoughts now that it’s Spring, we hear the birdies croon!

For a short time we’ll still on earth, could be we’ll join you soon.

Promise of Spring, beauty of May, fulfillment in the Fall,

God made seasons; they’re here for us while we wait for God’s call.

Pain does decrease; must not outshine the joys of the whole year.

Grief’s hard to do, cherish instead, we know our Lord is near.

Green grass and birds and baby calves, Springtime that we all love.

No work for you down here my dear, you’re safe with God above.

In soothing thoughts we wake at dawn, see quiet birds in flight.

Our heart still aches; we look above, see soft stars shine at night.

Oh, we still grieve as time moves on; we know that we were loved[1].

We suffer, yes, but we do know, you’re with our Lord, above.
