A desire to be their own bosses is why Ashley Weinheimer said that she and Anthony Windy Boy decided to purchase Boxcars Restaurant & Lounge.
"We both wanted a place that was our own and when this came up it was just the perfect opportunity," she said.
Windy Boy said the two bought Boxcars April 24.
A former cook at Uncle Joe's Tavern, Windy Boy said he and Weinheimer decided last year to buy Boxcars.
In addition to continuing to serve drinks at the business, Windy Boy said they hope to start serving food in about a month. He added they will most likely start by serving appetizers at noon and then expand the menu to include paninis, burgers and sandwiches.
The restaurant will also undergo some remodeling. Windy Boy said they are looking to repaint and add new carpet as well as take down some of the existing decorations.
A new look could help bring in new faces, he said.
Two bartenders who worked for the previous owners will continue working there, Weinheimer said. She added they also eventually plan to hire a third bartender and a cook.
Boxcars has a Thursday night "Jam Session" where local musicians come in to play music together and that is something that will be continuing.
Other weekly events are something they are looking at, but Weinheimer said they do not know what yet those events will be.
