Havre bakery featured as a Montana state small business success story

A Havre business has been featured as one of the The Montana Small Business Development Center Network successes.

The SBDC annual report contains success stories from across the state, with one being new Havre business, The Infinity Bake Shoppe.

A poster listing the success of the shop describes how The Infinity Bake Shoppe owner Dottie Wilson began her career in baking by baking for children at her day care. She then worked at a bakery before opening her own shop March 28, 2017.

Wilson said the process of her shop was "actually pretty smooth."

The regional director of the SBDC in Bear Paw Development Corp. in Havre, Joe LaPlante, was the one who assisted Wilson in opening her shop. Wilson said that LaPlante was always willing to work with her and help her out when she needed it.

"We were able to open without financial help (from the network or loans)," Wilson said, "but Joe was still always willing to help."

"Dottie was able to obtain financing and created 2 full-time jobs and 4 part-time jobs. In her first day of business, she sold out of her products in just over an hour," the success story poster states.

Wilson said she is pleased with how her business worked out.

"I am proud of the whole atmosphere," she said. "Everyone is happy."

Some small businesses SBDC has assisted - one of which is located in Havre - will be celebrated at the 2018 Small Business Administration Awards today in coordination with United States Small Business.

The Montana SBDC said that they are excited to celebrate all the small business across the state.

The press release added that "small businesses are truly the backbone of Montana's economy." United States Small Business Administration small business week is this week April 29-May 5.
