Hello God. It's me, Mara

Interesting facts

You know, Lord, a friend shared an interesting site telling about the Bible being the inspired Word of God, by Jason and Ron Carlson. Who among us ever thinks that the Bible is more than a single book? It was reported that during a question and answer session at a speaking engagement, a university student asked: “Why do you believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God?” When and where this happened is not recorded.

The subject matter was fascinating so it seemed fitting to pass it along. Who answered the student’s question is not mentioned but five thoughts are given. We quote:

“First, the Bible is not just a single book. … the Bible is actually a collection of 66 books, which is called the canon of scriptures. These 66 books contain a variety of genres: history, poetry, prophecy, wisdom, literature and letters, just to name a few.

Second: these 66 books were written by 40 different authors — from various backgrounds: shepherds, fishermen, doctors, kings, prophets and others and they never knew one another personally.

Third, these 66 books were written over a period of 1,500 years — though, again, these authors never knew or collaborated with one another.

Fourth, the 66 books were written in three different languages, Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.

And finally, these 66 books were written on three different continents: Africa, Asia and Europe. Think about the realities: This collection of books shares a common storyline, the Creation, fall and redemption of God’s people and the common theme — God’s universal love for all humanity; a common message — salvation is available to all who repent of their sins and commit to following God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.”

Your word, Lord, is truly an amazing collection of writings — no historical errors or contradictions! Thank You for loving us! In God We Trust!

Love, Mara
