Expo aims to provide goods and services to the women of Havre

Today and Saturday more than 50 vendors will be gathered at the former Serve-Ur-Self Furniture store to provide services and goods for the women of the community.

The Havre Tourism Committee will be sponsoring the 2018 Women’s Expo at 48 Second Ave. Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event was run in previous years by committee member Tera Verploegen, but this year she has turned it over to the tourism committee to run and sponsor.

Julea Robbins of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce said they are calling this event the Women’s Expo because it is going to be geared toward women, with vendors providing items like home improvements, decor, parenting, finance, fitness, beauty and accessories. Some women’s health care providers will also have booths set up.

She added that they want to get more of the women in the community involved.

Friday night, along with the booths, there will also be entertainment and a wine bar. Robbins said that the entertainment will be mostly comprised of musical acts including some students from Havre High School.

Also, both days the first 50 people at the door will receive a gift.

Admission to the event will be $1 or a can of food. The food will be donated to the Havre Public Schools’ Food Pantry to help provide summer lunches for students whose parents are at work or aren’t financially able to buy lunch.

Spaces may still be available for vendors; people who are interested can call 945-4266.
