Hello God. It's me, Mara

Spotless?

You know, Lord, real homes aren’t really spotless which was quite evident by the speckles than were unnecessary on the kitchen windows. In our climate, it isn’t wise in winter to wash the outside of the windows but late March — and on a day that was fair and had bright sun and blue sky — why not? It was a perfectly lovely day to get a headstart on spring housecleaning.

After the windows were spotless and the kitchen back in order, it was surprising to see how much more tidy and clean the world really did look when looking out freshly cleaned windows. Couldn’t help but think about the friend who happened by to wash our windows last spring. Looking through clean windows, could that be how our God looks at us — looking at us through His Son, Jesus, who sits at His right hand making intercession for us. Does God see us as clean? We know that God sees us as we really are, for after all, He created us, but does He see us for what we could become through Jesus?

Could be that God would have us look at His creation, our fellow man; to truly see the inside-real person and not make snap presumptions — and not look through our biased eyes which are clouded with self-centered ways? Could we practice looking through the eyes of Jesus and not look for weakness but for worth?

While we’re in the mood for Spring housecleaning, it would behoove us to do some cleaning up in our heart area as well. What a joy to see things fresh and clean as after a spring rain or through a clean window or with a prayer of blessings for our fellow man. We read in 1 Cor. 7:1b “ … beloved. Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and sprit …”

Love Mara
