Havre woman with long rap sheet gets 10 years
A Havre woman who allegedly rammed her vehicle into a Havre police cruiser in January was sentenced in state District Court in Havre Monday to 10 years in plea agreements on multiple cases.
Rebecca S. Denson, born 1964, is being held at the Chouteau County Jail — while waiting on a pending Hill County case — because of her assault on a Hill County DetentIon Officer in 2017.
Denson is accused of ramming a vehicle into a police cruiser Jan. 31 after getting stuck as a result of her fleeing officers. Court charging documents say Denson tried to drive the police vehicle off the road and down a 10-foot drop by driving into it. She allegedly had to be pulled out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Sobriety field tests indicated Denson was impaired.
The sentences Denson received Monday result in 10 years to the DOC. Two of the sentences will run consecutively, the third at the same time as the other two.
Denson received five years for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, with credit for 48 days served. This sentence is part of a plea deal and stems from a Jan. 28, 2017 incident when officers found a bag of methamphetamine on Denson.
Denson received another five years with the DOC for the felony offense of assault on a peace officer, with credit for 56 days served.
That sentence stems from a Jan. 30, 2017 incident during which Denson, while jailed at the Hill County Detention Center, tried to conceal from a detention officer, meth she had on her which led to a physical confrontation during which she tried to swallow and rinse the meth down a shower drain. During the confrontation, Denson swung at the officer, resulting in several scratches on the officer’s arms.
Denson also received five years with the DOC, with credit for 48 days served, for the offense of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony.
The sentence is the result of Denson admitting to her probation officer Jan. 28, 2017, that she received Percocet in the mail, as well as officers finding a purse in her kitchen after her arrest that contained 74 Oxycodone pills, which Denson intended to sell on the streets.
Denson has at least 12 additional convictions dating back to 1993, in Silver Bow, Richland, Dawson, Gallatin, Yellowstone and Missoula counties. The offenses include forgery, theft, another assault on a police officer in Silver Bow county and several drug possession sentencing.
