As God in Heaven called our mother, Dorothy Ann Cormany, she answered and passed peacefully early Sunday on a cold and snowy March 4, 2018.
Our mother was born on a cold and snowy Jan. 11, 1928, on the family farm southeast of Havre to Charles and Anna Seidel. This year she celebrated her 90th birthday. Mother had nine brothers and sisters; Ester "Sis," Donald "Sonny," Gertrude "Swede," Raymond "Deemer," Marion "Chick," Joseph "Joe," Helen, Agnes "Toots," and Loretta "Skeets" - Mom's nickname was Dottie. We were told many stories about her farm days.
Mother attended St. Jude Catholic School and graduated from Havre High School in 1946. Mom followed her sisters and attended nursing school at Sacred Heart Hospital in Miles City. She was very proud of her further training at Creighton University. It was in training where she met Marion of Circle who always called her Pinky.
Mother met our father on a blind date. Even though Dad didn't call her for a month, they continued dating and were married Sept. 22, 1956. We came along in 1958 (Allen) and in 1964 (Arlee), and we made our home on Maple Drive in Havre.
Mother started her nursing career in September 1950 as a night shift nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Havre. One year later she accepted a position with the Havre Clinic and spent 46 great years at the clinic. Mom worked with the best doctors, nurses and staff but will always be best remembered as part of the team of Dr. Elliott, Janet Bronson and Dorothy Cormany. Mom worked at all three Havre Clinic locations. Mom was also the Hill County 4-H Camp nurse for many years.
During retirement, our mother continued her involvement with Hill County 4-H, St. Jude parish, VFW and the Eagles, and visiting with friends and relatives. Even though Mom was German, she was known as the "lefse lady." Every Christmas our mother made lefse and sandbakkels for friends and relatives, and she always made sure we had enough for the annual St. Jude Christmas Bazaar (and Mike Tilleman, Nancy and Ken, Janet and Mary Beth and Dave).
Mother was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna; husband Wayne; sisters Ester, Gertrude, Marion, Helen and Loretta; and brothers Don and Ray.
She is survived by many friends and relatives in Montana and throughout the northwest including her son, Allen, daughter, Arlee Jene, brother Joe, sister Agnes and her "adopted" grandchildren, Chazlie Cripps of Havre, the Clintons of Circle, the Coleman's of Helena, the Marshall's of Havre, the Halls of Bozeman, the Osborne's of Butte and the Loeffler's of Whitefish and Columbia Falls.
Mom recited the Rosary every day. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, with Mass held at 11 a.m. Friday May 18, 2018, all at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Havre. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Parish, PO Box 407, Havre MT 59501 or the Hill County 4-H Chuckwagon building fund, C/O Hill County Extension Service, 315 Fourth Street, Havre MT 59501.
