Montana’s Our Little Miss is looking for ladies of all ages who want to be part of the program’s competition family, with the last of a series of preliminary competitions set for Havre.

Our Little Miss helps build self-confidence, communication skills, poise and build life long memories and friendships. Our Little Miss requires no experience, being a natural system and great for beginners and pros.

Our sixth preliminary of the season is set to be held April 7 in Havre’s Holiday Village Mall.

This is a tri-level system that has been around for 56 years. People can find more information on the Our Little Miss of Montana Facebook page.

The scholarship competition was founded by Marge Hannaman in 1962 as the “first” international children’s beauty and talent competition with the first competition being held in 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since its inception the competition has been held all over the United States and has welcomed contestants from all over the world. Several of our Grand Finals have been televised and in 1977 CBS’ “60 Minutes” covered a full week of the pageant. There have been many contestants who have gone on to become movie star’s, broadcast journalists, successful business owners, and contestants in other scholarship competitions such as Miss America. There have also been many guests stars to grace the stage, such as Frankie Avalon, Shari Lewis, Joe Diffy, and Brent Anderson.

Over 100 children, teens and adults from various states and foreign countries will compete for the coveted world titles during the weeklong event. All age divisions will compete in a variety of competitions including Close-up Appraisal, Sportswear, Team OLM/Playtime with the Judges, Party Dress/Evening Gown and Talent. Two judge panels will judge the delegates on their poise, stage presence, facial beauty, personality, and ability to answer questions both on stage and in the closed Close-up Appraisal and Back Stage Interview sessions.

Each newly crowned winner listed below was presented with the official Our Little Miss Rhinestone crown, satin lined banner and trophy during the Universal Beauty Montana State finals in October. Each will have the opportunity to represent their titles throughout the year at various state and local, events. Upon completion of their reign and fulfillment of their duties, the winners will receive cash scholarships.

• Montana’s Universal Beauty (reigning) Baby Petite (0-2 years) — Hazel Sturgis, Sidney.

• Montana’s Universal Beauty (reigning) Miss LaPetite (3-6 years) — Madison Deude, Glendive.

• Montana’s Universal Beauty (reigning) Our Little Miss (7-9 years) — Amanda Wilcox, Toston.

• Montana’s Universal Beauty (reigning) Our Little Miss Preteen (10-12 years) — Gabby Hannum, Trout Creek.
