Letter to the Editor - Come to a wild safari and help Rotary help communities

The Rotary Club is preparing to turn the Big Sandy High School gym into a “Wild Safari!” This will help us forget the cold and snow we have been experiencing.

Tickets are available for the “Wild Safari Dreams” Banquet, March 17, and can be purchased at Wells Fargo Bank, The Grocery Store, Ophus Auction Service and Sheehy’s Law Office or your favorite Rotarian. Inflation has not touched the banquet ticket price of $100 per couple. Prices are the same as in 1984.

Something new and exciting this year — you will be able to use your credit cards the night of the banquet.

There will be many fun activities, numerous prizes, a couple surprises, lots of delicious food and fellowship with your friends and neighbors. Through your generosity, Rotary has been able to help over 60 organizations, programs, civic groups and youth/school activities in the Big Sandy and surrounding communities. Our motto is service about self, so members put that into action by volunteering to improve our community. If you are interested in becoming a member of such an amazing organization, please contact a Rotary member or attend the Rotary Club meetings Monday evening at 6 at the Big Sandy Senior Center, dinner included.

Due to your generous donations of prizes, cash sponsorships and volunteer time, we are able to continue to support many worthwhile causes. Please drop off your donations at the Big Sandy Wells Fargo Bank and see all the amazing prizes available to win; donations can also be mailed to PO BOX 224. Again this year, there are three levels of cash sponsorship $300+ Gold Level, $201-$299 Silver Level, and $100-$200 Bronze Level, cash contributions need to be in by March 10 to ensure your donation is listed in the program to promote your business and thank you for your support.

Through the proceeds raised at the annual banquets, over the last 33 years, Rotary has reinvested $600,000 back into the community. Just for purchasing the ticket, you are eligible to win the Top 11 Prizes, just to name a few, a generator, set of four tires, remote control cooler, cell phone booster, Apple Watch and, grand prize, $3,000.

March 17 is quickly approaching, don’t miss out, tickets are going fast!
