Eagles end Blue Pony boy's run in Billings

However, things stalled for the Ponies late in the second stanza. Trailing by just three points, Havre would score just four points in the second period, while Sidney's Max Peters drilled his third 3-pointer of the first half, sending the Eagles into the locker room with a 26-17 lead.

From that point, the Ponies didn't threaten again, though they did pick up the pace offensively. Parsons continued to have a strong outing, but Aaron Entz hit a three to extend Sidney's lead to 39-27 at the end of the third quarter, and inside, Bridger Larson and Alex Lovegren were too much for the undersized Ponies to handle, as the duo combined for 28 points and 14 rebounds.

In all, Sidney had four players reach double figures, with Peters scoring 11 and Entz adding 10. Sidney made 9-of-18 three's on the night. The win also pushed the Eagles into a do-or-die game with Livingston later today.

Meanwhile, Havre's season came to a close with Parsons leading the way with a team-high 16 points. Laz Windy Boy hit two three's and scored six, while Jacob Irvin scored six as well, and DeLarosa chipped in with five points. The Ponies finished the season 3-17.

The Eastern/Central A boys and girls tournaments continue today and Saturday. The Havre High girls play in the semifinals tonight at 8 against Laurel, with a spot in the championship game on the line. If Havre is victorious against the Locomotives, the Ponies would face either Hardin or Billings Central in Saturday night's championship game, also scheduled for 8 p.m. The top four boys and top four girls teams from the tournament advance to the Class A state tournament. The boys state tourney is next weekend in Bozeman, while the girls state tournament ail be held March 8-10 in Great Falls.
