Eddie Harmon, Turner Boys Basketball
The Turner boys basketball team didn’t make it out of the District 9C tournament this past weekend in Havre. But it wasn’t for a lack of production from senior Eddie Harmon. In three 9C games last week, Harmon averaged 22 points and eight rebounds per game. He scored 10 points in an opening-round loss to Fort Benton but then exploded for 26 points in a win over Big Sandy and 25 in a narrow loss to Hays-Lodge Pole. Harmon is also a defending state champion in track and field for the Tornadoes and is expected to have another huge spring on the track.
Aspen Giese, Fort Benton Girls Basketball
It was quite the weekend for Fort Benton and especially freshman Aspen Giese. Not only did Giese pour in an incredible 26 points in Fort Benton’s thrilling overtime win over Box Elder in the 9C girls championship game Saturday night in Havre, but she made the game-winning shot just before the final buzzer sounded, lifting the Horns to a one-point win and their second 9C title in four years. Giese also scored 21 points in Fort Benton’s semifinal win over Turner Friday night, and in her first 9C appearance, she averaged 22 points and made nine 3-pointers.
