Barbara Allen, a world class harpist, will be performing in three locations in Havre Tuesday, Feb. 20.
She is coming at the invitation of Mary Stevens of Harp for Healing, LLC of Havre.
Allen will be performing at St. Judes Catholic Church, Northern Montana Care Center, and Timber Creek Village.
Since winning the second prize in the Seventh International Harp Competition held in Israel, Barbara Allen has been active as a performer, recording artist and teacher. She has held the principal harp position with American Ballet Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City since 1990, and has appeared with artists such as Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Collins, Doc Severinsen and Sting.
Recordings include movies such as "Tower Heist," "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," "Julie/Julia," "Hunchback of Notre Dame," "A Dog's Purpose," and very recently performed on the set for the movie "The Greatest Showman." She has just concluded performing solo ballet excerpts with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in Rochester, New York.
Allen teaches in New York at Mannes College at the New School, Masters School, Hoff Barthelson. She is a certified clinical musician through Harp for Healing's Clinical Musician Certification Program.
Allen will perform at St. Jude Thaddeus Church Tuesday at 9 a.m. for the students of St. Jude Thaddeus School, 11 a.m. for the residents of Timber Creek Village and at 2 p.m. for the residents of Northern Montana Care Center. The public is invited to attend any or all performances.
