Madison Food Park meeting set for Thursday

Press release

The North Central Stockgrowers Association is sponsoring an informational meeting about the Madison Food Park.

This proposed agri-business entity is a food processing plant for beef, pork and poultry slated to be built on 3000 acres near Great Falls. The meeting will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hensler Auditorium at Montana State University-Northern.

Interested producers and members of the public are invited to attend.

Todd Hansen, director of development, will discuss the business model and the processing operation and address questions from producers and the community.

A preliminary application submitted for Madison Food Park calls for the facility to include a meat-packing and processing facility for beef, pork and poultry; a cheese making and fresh milk processing facility; a distillery that sources grain for Montana-branded spirits from crops grown by Golden Triangle farmers; and a large-scale packaging, transportation and distribution network located on site to ensure quality control and biosecurity of the supply chain.

The business plan is to source farm inputs from agricultural producers and deliver high-quality food products to the consumer’s table.
