Artitudes Gallery in the Atrium Mall will host a reception for "Freezing a Moment to Capture a Memory," photography by Jason Geer, tonight from 6 to 8.
The public is invited to come for refreshments, live music, artwork and visiting with the artist.
"From my first point-and-shoot film camera, to the modern digital cameras of today, I have enjoyed taking pictures. From the intricate design of a plant, to a human emotion, I have used photography as a medium to capture the moments that have invoked some type of feeling or memory.
"I have enjoyed capturing the diversity of images that people, landscapes, and just about everything else provide. When I reflect on these images, I can remember the feelings I felt at that time," he said.
"As time has passed, I have realized the importance of those images, as people change, landscapes are altered, and memories fade. However, I can revisit that frozen moment in time and remember how they used to be.
"It was later in my life, that I finally realized how important it was for me to freeze moments to preserve a record of my history, interests, and the physical world that I live," Geer added. "Many of my memories would have been lost, if it was not for a picture.
"I have learned that each of us has a unique and interesting view of the world and photography has allowed me to share my perspective. I have enjoyed sharing my images with you and hope that they inspire you to freeze moments to capture your memories, so that you can share them with others," he said.
