Press Release
Miss Montana 2017 Maddie Murray is traveling the state talking to students and is in the Golden Triangle this week presenting “Gifting Your Gift of Service.”
Murray is sharing her volunteer message Wednesday in Box Elder starting at 9:15 a.m. and at Big Sandy at 12:45 p.m. Feb. 8 Miss Montana speaks with Malta students in the morning. In the afternoon she speaks to Dodson K-12 students and Zurich/Cleveland K-8. Check with school administration if the public can attend.
Murray‘s interactive presentation on “Gifting Your Gift of Service” engages students with a presentation full of personal stories, advice and demonstrations. She talks about the importance of helping others in today’s world, but also encourages everyone to find their gifts and their passions, so that they can not only better the lives of others, but theirs as well. As Miss Montana, Murray hopes to inspire students to achieve their dreams through goal setting, strengthen relationships through teamwork and improve their well-being by making others happy.
She is a 19-year-old sophomore at Gonzaga University majoring in human physiology, who hopes to become a physician assistant. Murray’s platform was inspired by the countless people who have given back to her in her life. She has co-led four medical mission trips to Nicaragua and is motivated by the idea that “if you can’t pay it back, pay it forward.” She wants to not only encourage youth to volunteer, but to learn the benefits of volunteering, as well. She will teach the importance of giving your gift, while showcasing that service doesn’t need to be a punishment and it doesn’t need to take a lot of time or money.
She started her tour last Monday in Kalispell.
