People are invited to join Havre Trails Sunday for a snowshoe hike up Eagle Creek on Rocky Boy's Reservation. The 2 1/2 -mile, 1 1/2-hour loop starts and and ends at Bear Paw Ski Bowl. The terrain is mostly gentle, with a brief climb at the end. This is a medium difficulty snowshoe hike mostly along an unplowed two-track road. All are welcome to join. The ski hill will have burgers for purchase afterward, cash only.
The group will meet in Havre at 10 a.m. at the parking lot of the District IV Human Resources Development Council building parking lot at 2229 Fifth Ave. to carpool to the site. Rocky Boys residents are welcome to join the groups at the ski hill around 10:45 a.m. Four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive is highly recommended if people drive out. The terrain difficulty is moderate with slightly uphill terrain until the end, where there is a brief climb. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
People are asked to remember to bring snowshoes, winter gear, sunglasses, water, snacks and cash for burgers. Jeans are not recommended unless the wearer has. The temperature is expected to be around 5 to 10 degrees, so people should dress in layers and remember they will heat up quickly while snowshoeing.
If the hike is canceled due to inclement weather conditions, it will be reported at 8 a.m. Sunday morning on Facebook and via phone to those who RSVP.
The hike leader is Lindsey Bennett, 406-301-3991
