Hello God. It's me, Mara

It’s a brand New Year, Lord! Don’t we all look forward to that clean, fresh, new page on our brand new calendars, and also in our lives? Sometimes it’s a bit scary when we look ahead, knowing that It’s up to us to fill in those blank pages. Oh, Lord, help us to choose wisely. WE need Your help, Lord, as we may stop for a minute and set a few things into perspective, then we need to take a moment to prioritize; and while we’re at it, maybe we should take a deep breath, savoring life just a little bit more.

Your Word is full of promises for us, even though we are Your way-ward, stubborn, stiff-necked children; but if You wrote out a wish list for us for the New Year, would it look something like this?

NEW YEAR’S WISHES FOR YOU.

“Enough happiness to keep you sweet.

Enough trials to keep you strong.

Enough sorrow to keep you human,

Enough hope to keep you happy.

Enough failure to keep you humble

Enough success to keep you eager.

Enough friends to give you comfort.

Enough enthusiasm to look forward.

Enough determination to make each day better.”

From the Living Bible we find these very same promises which, if we’re smart and sharp, we can claim each of them for us for this brand New Year. For example Your Word shows us: (Rom 8:28) “And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into His plans:” (Heb 13:5) “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you.”

That’s You, Lord; You are speaking to us! What an assortment of special promises that You have just for us! Thank You, Lord, for guiding us and for loving us.
