Chinook man raises money for stepson's Sugarbeeter class

Editor's note: This corrects who the Pizza Hut customers should say they are donating to

A Chinook man who says he has been continually helping his stepson’s Chinook High School Class of 2020 raise money for yearly expenses continues that effort Thursday with a Pizza Hut fundraiser.

Rob Kellie’s stepson, Josh, is set to graduate in 2020 with his fellow Sugarbeeters. Until then, Kellie said, he will continue to help the class raise money for ongoing expenses.

Every year, his son’s class, like all the others, have expenses, he said. One example is the yearly float each high school class makes during the float competition. Decorating lockers is another expenses for students.

Anyone making a purchase at Pizza Hut Thursday can tell cashiers they are donating to the Chinook Class of 2020 and 20 percent of the purchase price will go to the fundraiser.

Kellie said this is just one of the fundraisers he helps with. He started fundraising for Josh when he was in in seventh grade.

Not all fundraisers go as planned. Earlier this month a bake sale was planned, with potential proceeds going to the cause. The bake sale was canceled, so the cookies were all bought by the parents, Kellie said.
