Havre Police Department

Havre police responded to or referred to other agencies a large number of calls Monday and Tuesday regarding downed trees and power lines, traffic problems or stranded vehicles related to the heavy snow and people driving past barricades on streets and requests for welfare checks on people and extra patrols due to the power outage.

Havre police received several scam calls Monday and Tuesday from people reporting calls where the people calling claimed they were from the IRS threatening action on delinquent taxes.

After a caller from 18th Street at 3 p.m. Monday reported a person was was throwing things out, officers arrested Timothy Lee Dennis of Chinook, 34, on a charge of partner or family member assault.

Officers investigated a hit-and-run crash reported at 11 a.m. Tuesday on 16th Street.

——

An officer making a motor vehicle stop at 11:08 a.m. on First Street Tuesday arrested Gabriel Lewis Lawrence on charges of stop sign violation; driving with a suspended or revoked drivers’ license; failure to carry or produce proof of insurance, second offense, and on a Justice or City court warrant.

Officers investigated a report made at 3:37 this morning that someone stole a vest with vehicle keys in it.

Hill County Sheriff’s Office

The sheriff’s office responded to or referred to other agencies multiple calls Monday and Tuesday about vehicles crashing, sliding off the road or stuck or having problems due to the heavy snowfall, downed power lines and other issues.

Havre Fire Department

Emergency medical technicians responded to four calls Monday, seven calls Tuesday and three this morning.

Firefighters responded to a call 7 a.m. Monday that a power line was out by Beaver Creek Golf Course until NorthWestern Energy responded.

Firefighers responded to a call at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday on the 800 Block of Fourth Street and found the cause of the problem was an alarm panel malfunctioning.

Firefighters responded to a call at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday from the 200 Block of Seventh Street in which the caller reported smelling gas and stayed on scene until NorthWestern Energy responded.

Officers responded to a report from the 800 Block of Second Street at 11:02 p.m. of the odor of gas

Firefighters responded to a call at 12:31 this morning from the 1200 Block of first Avenue of a smoke alarm going off but found no smoke or flames.

A girl was born Oct. 1, 2017, to Johnna R. Chandler and Russell W. McKague Jr. of Hays.
