A soup feed and silent auction benefit for a North Star student who must travel to Seattle Children's Hospital for a heart ablation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, at North Star Elementary School in Gildford.
All proceeds will benefit Aubrey Welch, who recently was diagnosed with super ventricular tachycardia, which has been causing episodes during which her heart beats upward of 200 beats per minute, and premature ventricular contraction.
The conditions have sidelined the active teen from physical activity, including sports. She must travel with her family to Seattle in the coming weeks for a heart ablation to correct the SVT and further monitoring of the PVC.
To offset medical and travel costs, as well as lost wages for the family, soup, bread and desserts will be served for a free-will donation at the school's cafeteria, 205 3rd St. E., Gildford.
A silent auction includes Origami Owl jewelry, sports team-themed baskets, metal artwork, family portrait photo session, Rodan & Fields package, custom wood sign, gift certificates from local businesses and many more items.
Donations can be made to the Benefit for Aubrey Welch account at Bear Paw Credit Union or online at http://www.youcaring.com/aubreywelchjennihuffman-962889.
