Hill County FSA sets meetings on LFP, NAP disaster programs

The Hill County Farm Service Agency is hosting local producer meetings to present information on the Livestock Forage Disaster Program and the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program authorized by the 2014 Farm Bill, the Agricultural Act of 2014.

The meetings are free and open to the public.

• Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Northern Agricultural Research Center, 3710 Assinniboine Road, Havre, MT 59501.

• Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at Stone Child College, 8294 Upper Box Elder Road, Box Elder, MT 59521.

LFP provides compensation to eligible livestock producers who suffered grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash leased land.

Producers must provide a completed application for payment and required supporting documentation to their FSA office by Jan. 30. Final 2017 Acreage Reports are due no later than Nov. 15.

NAP provides financial assistance to producers of noninsurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory, or prevented planting occur due to natural disasters, including native grass for grazing.

The NAP sales closing date for 2018 annual fall-seeded crops, perennial forage and grazing, mixed forage crops including spring seeded annual types of mixed forage, rye, speltz, triticale, wheat and garlic is Oct. 2.
