Regular season ends in the rain for Havre High golfers

The Havre High golf teams had 36 holes left in their regular season. Just 36 holes to play for the Central A Divisional Tournament.

Unfortunately, the Ponies only got to play 18 of those holes last week. On Thursday, Havre took part in the Billings Central Invitational, and was supposed to finish the regular season with the Laurel Invite Friday. However, the much-needed rain that fell across the state forced the cancellation of Friday's event at the Laurel Country Club.

Still, head coach Brett Gilman's teams did get 18 tough holes in on Thursday at Eaglerock in Billings.

The Blue pony girls finished the tournament with a strong 419, led by a 96 from junior Teagan Fee. Regan Lammers shot a 103, while Kinzee Peterson finished at 108 and Grace Litzinger shot 112. Freshman Jocelyn Staples rounded out the scoring with a 118.

On the boys side, HHS finished at 529, with Josh Warp leading the Ponies at 113. Nolan Lotton shot 127, followed by 144 from Caleb Chambliss, 145 by Clint Owens and 149 from Hunter Velk.

The Billings Central Invite featured top-flight competition from both Class A and AA. Billings West swept the team titles there, while Havre also got to see tough teams from Billings Central, Laurel, Hardin, Billings Senior and Sidney.

Now Havre will prepare for this week's Central A Divisional, where team titles and spots in next week's Class A state tourney will be on the line. The Central A meet will take place Saturday in Livingston. The Class A state tournament is next weekend in Sidney.
