Loving life
You know, Lord, when we’re walking down the street we might notice a variety of facial appearances. It’s special when some folks actually smile; if they don’t, maybe we should “give” them one of ours. It doesn’t much matter if the sun is shining or even if there should be rain — weather doesn’t matter. When we’re in a good mood, it’s like we’re loving life — and then, suddenly, it’s like life’s loving us!
Little incidents do occur. Overheard at the post office as one person checked their box; he turned to another chap and said, “Well, I guess nobody loves me — no mail, not even a bill.” The other guy smiled and said: “Maybe you’re blessed — not getting a bill is great.”
How about when walking down the street and almost running into someone. After a look of surprise from both of them, a bit of casual chit-chat followed. They discovered that a distant state was common to both of them, though several generations back and apart. Name exchange was next — only to discover they were given nearly the same name. After an enjoyable laugh, one asked the other her age. Though younger folks probably wouldn’t understand, it turned out that both were what our generation would call “silver!” Now that, three things in a row, does not happen very often!
Ah — isn’t the world a beautiful place? One does not have to look far to find that there really is joy to be had even though some folks think that “everything’s bad!” Like one friend shared: “Maybe we need to change our attitude, try a different viewpoint.”
Thank You, Lord for this reminder from Hebrews 13:1-2 (NIV): “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”
Love, Mara
