Grief Poem - Hear our prayer …

Our sadness craves some company; in sorrow, we pull out.

What step is next? We do not know — we’re truly filled with doubt.

In misery we tend to “hide” — for nothing stays the same.

We miss our darling, that’s for sure; things here just call his name.

We’re not alone; we know a few, they suffer much, that’s true.

A listening ear does help a lot; they need a blessing, too.

We’re saddest in dark of night when stars are masked by cloud.

And then again when dawn does break and Morning Doves are loud.

Our grieving friends do need our prayers as much as we need theirs.

Grief tends to make us to withdraw, it helps when someone cares!

 Our prayer could be, “Oh, Father God. Help me to bless my friends.

“And to be glad with them when blessed, for mourning, some day, ends.

“Grant eyes to see and ears to hear, a heart to offer care;

 “With love to share encouragement, Lord, hear my humble prayer.

“Help us rejoice[1], when friends rejoice, that helps us both, we know,

“For some day soon when You call us, it’s off to You, we’ll go!

“Our love’s not gone — it’s safe inside, and some days[2] bring delight!

“Your favor is for our whole life, with You we’ll be all right!”
