The Blaine County Wildlife Museum has extended its hours into the fall.
The museum had closed for regular visitors Aug. 31, but decided this year to stay open through October, manager Tammy Edwards said.
Edwards said the museum board hoped the later hours might give an opportunity for hunters to see the exhibits as well as allowing for school tours.
The museum opened in 2009 after two decades of preparation. After the Blaine Theater in Chinook closed, the Blaine Bank of Montana donated the building to be used for the wildlife museum.
The museum has extensive displays, and a new addition, The Foothills featuring a bull, cow and calf elk as well as a prairie dog town and several birds, opened in June, as well as a gift shop and information displays.
The museum closes for regular hours from November through May, but people can make appointments for tours by emailing [email protected] or calling Edwards at 357-2385.
