The Havre Blue Ponies will have some time off before getting back on the golf course for the stretch run of their season. But, leading up the week off, Havre was very busy.
Last Friday, the Ponies were at the Browning Invitational, held at the East Glacier Golf Course. And it was yet another good day for the emerging HHS girls.
The Pony girls finished first in the meet, which was composed of the Ponies, Browning, Ronan, Frenchtown and the CMR and Great Falls High junior varsity teams. Havre scored a 403 and placed four players in the Top 10, including junior Teagan Fee, who shot a personal best 83 to win the meet.
Regan Lammers shot 106 to finish fifth, and Grace Litzinger and Kinzee Peterson each shot 107 to tie for seventh place, while freshman Jocelyn Staples finished with a 113.
Friday was also a good day for the young HHS boys team. Havre's entire boys roster is composed of all first-year golfers, and those five had their best day of the season. The Ponies scored a 443 as a team, with sophomore Tyrel Kjersem shooting a 105.
Havre also got a 107 by Hunter Velk, a 111 from Josh Warp, a 120 by Nolan Lotton and a 129 from Clint Owens to round out the scoring.
The Havre boys and the entire Blue Pony junior varsity team were also in action at Monday's Havre JV Invitational at Beaver Creek Golf Course. The tournament consisted of the Blue Ponies, Lewistown and Browning.
On the boys side, Tyrel Kjersem shot a 97 to place first overall, while Caleb Chambliss also shot 97 and finished second. Josh Warp was third with a 99. Nolan Lotton shot 108 for the Ponies while Hunter Velk added a 128.
Also competing for Havre Monday was Clint Owens (104), Trennis Riley (123), Jacob Miller (105), Joram Randolh (144) and Colby Tilleman (165).
Two Blue Pony girls also played Monday. Freshman Jocelyn Staples shot a 114 to finish third in the girls tournament, while fellow freshman Makayla Lindbloom finished with a 146.
The Ponies will now be off until the Lewistown Invitational Sept. 8 in Lewistown.The Ponies will also play at the Billing Central and Laurel tournaments this month.
