While air quality was better this morning, quality in the Havre area dropped enough Monday for the Hill County Health Department to put out a warning for people in sensitive groups to be careful when outside.
Hill County Public Health Director Kim Larson said this morning the air quality had improved to a moderate level, meaning it is a good day for everyone except people very sensitive to air quality to be outside.
Visibility was about 10 miles this morning, she said.
Larson said her research indicated smoke from fires in Canada led to the lower air quality Monday, with visibility at about 7 miles and children, older adults and people with heart or lung disease warned to be careful.
Larson said the condition can vary in a short distance in this part of Montana, and can change rapidly.
She said people can check updates on air quality at the Hill County Health Department website at https://hillcountyhealth.com, where a ticker under the search bar tells the current air quality and, if clicked on, will take people to the latest post on the health department’s Facebook page with a description of the conditions and how people should deal with the air quality if precautions are needed.
